tickets

this blog is for my dreams. for those empty spaces in my passport that cry out, "stamp me! for goodness sake, stamp me!"
i love cultures. always have--when i was little, i would read about missionaries who travelled to distant lands, met exotic peoples and told them about God. i felt like Lucy in "While You Were Sleeping" who got her passport and couldn't wait to see the world. she was just... home. until someday.
my someday came. i actually got my passport at sixteen for a 2 1/2 week missions trip to Berlin. i went. i loved it. i completely fell in love with Berlin. i dreamed of going back for two years. and then the dream died as the fervor of working, volunteering, and finishing high school took over.
now it's Christmas day. i've just given family and friends all sorts of things from Jerusalem and Rome from the past semester. i was admitted last year to a 3 1/2 month study abroad program in Israel, and while i was there i took nine days with six friends to travel Rome, Pisa, and Florence.
i can't imagine that i will be able to travel much more for the rest of my life--money just doesn't seem like it's incredibly likely to be on my horizon. but i have such a passion for cultures, i can't stop learning about them simply because i can't go places.
therefore, i will travel. i will travel without a ticket. today i decided i will make journeys to many lands fueled by imagination and research only.

join me. or don't.
but really, join me.
